Have no fear, losing weight and getting back into shape can be fun and easy, if you don’t put too much pressure on yourself.
First, be patient. It took time to gain weight and you cannot expect to get back into shape overnight.
Second, find an exercise that works for you. Running is something that I have always loved and have found to be a great way to shed those unwanted pounds. However, running is not for everyone. If you like tennis, walking, cycling, pilates, aerobics classes, etc. resume the exercise routine you enjoy and do it on a consistent basis. Remember, consistency is the key to losing weight and keeping it off.
Third, eat a healthier diet. Make small changes in your diet. Don’t deprive yourself. Eat healthier by including fresh vegetables, fish, chicken, lean meats and complex carbohydrates in your diet. When possible, try and limit your intake of sugar. Of course, as you begin to feel better, you will have more energy. We all have busy schedules but try to exercise at least 3 to 4 times a week. The combination of eating better and exercising will help you look forward to summer and help you reach your goal of getting fit, not just for warmer weather but for a lifetime.
